I am Pagan
Many people are very comfortable here. They can embrace Paganism (and for the sake of conversation we will call Paganism the umbrella under which earth-based religion falls and/or anything that is not associated with Christianity) because it grants them faith and a collective belief there is answer to their life and death questions. It is a very sad world to believe life is over at death or our loved ones have no reward for the suffering of this life’s dis-ease and disease. It also allows our freedom of responsibility of the negative aspects associated with paganism that is residue of their upbringing and the world muggle view of Paganism; magick, demons, spirits and yes responsibility of self.
To each their own and faith is a very personal thing. I can almost envy people here for I feel like this is where the “all butterflies” aspect of Goddess and God dwells. On the other hand, I could never be satisfied with this belief for I believe this is where the dabblers of magick dwell as well. Maybe at one time I could “be” in this group but one does not dabble in magick that one is not led deeper down the rabbit hole.
*Choosing the Pagan path for identity
Again, works for some, gives them a belonging and a belief – the question would be “does it serve their higher self”? Does it truly define them as clergy, Hp or Shaman/Healer or follower who loses their own connection to higher self. One can prosper in identity through Spirituality if they are not a Fluffy Bunny and include the work with the identity. I can see Mother Theresa as a good example, her identity was her work. I can also see many in the Pagan and Christian faith who lose themselves in the ego of identity.
*Choosing the Pagan path for Spirituality and Magick
I think as most of you, this is my fit. I also see it can be as politically charged as any group associated train of thought. Truly filled with the real deal in magick and phenomenal reality that only a few ever truly comprehend AND a fluffy bunny breeding ground of dabbling power seekers. A little hard handed but let’s be honest, there are many in this category that never learn to respect the old ways. Coffee table braggers of the latest published book and claimed tools of the Witch and Wizard. The quick way of choice to get right to the idealism of the first two tittles; being Pagan for the spirituality and the identity.
This is the most dangerous of all I meet upon the path, my two cents. They know just enough to call forth the energy only to be left frazzled in its wake. Just enough to leave responsibility of self to a spell and just enough to understand the Wheel but not embrace it They would cast spells against the free will of others or send energy to alter the path of another that does not fulfill their own need or desire. They call upon their Goddess or God when they have need and never see their presence in their daily life.
They embrace the light and fear the dark – never knowing they are one and the same. They take what suits them of the mysteries and leaves the rest as though it does not exist. They want the finish line with minimal work.
This to me is what we as daughters of Goddess must not become. We must do the work. When we think we know everything there is to know we must keep our ears open to the universe for the mysteries are endless and there is always more to learn. If we fear, we must embrace our fear for in magick there is no place for fear, the old saying “never conjure what you cannot banish” lives here. If we fail at our magick we must do it again, differently till the cauldron of self is aligned with the perfect combination to open the lock we seek to gain entrance beyond.
While we believe the day has come to alter the ceremonial magick we must not dismiss the teachings of why ceremonial magick was created to begin with. That Ritual is empowered with the magick of all who have spoken it before us, handed to them by those before them. Doorways are lost forever in the arrogance of the young in disregard of the powers of the old
